Discover What

Will be at the Heart of the Forum?

Within the Art of Archiving and Digital Preservation, we developed 7 core topics around which we will focus our content for this forum. These key topics will help guide you in finding the content that is more relevant to your work and ensure your participation benefits you and your organisation.

Harvesting Archiving Innovation

Archiving is an art, constantly evolving and striving for excellence across all branches of the sector. Innovation is a key factor that drives us forward as we build the archiving and records management solutions of the future. With each new challenge, such as digitalisation and cost of digital preservation, we must remain flexible and creative but also promote fresh perspectives and new ideas. In these sessions, discover the success stories of leading Archivists, as well as our expectations for the exciting future of archiving.

AI technology for the archiving industry

Many archivists are considering AI and increasingly trying to integrate AI into existing workflows. This session discusses the shift in thinking and skill that are required by Archivists to become masters in working alongside AI and other technologies not replaced by it. We will also explore AI’s limitations, in particular its inability to understand context and unreliable decision-making capabilities. Human supervision and operation will remain critical to ensure consistent accuracy and overall effectiveness of the archiving process.

Future Archives Funding and financing

Regardless of their specific financial situation, archiving and records management organisers all over the world are continually looking to strengthen the current funding model as well as develop new sources of funding and finance. Some financing models that will be examined include also the use of untapped revenue sources such as digital rights, public private partnerships, as well as the use of technology innovation as a source of revenue.

Historical Preservation to Information Preservation

The archiving sector is investing in innovative solutions to optimise its transformation from historical preservation to information preservation. The expansion of archiving systems, sheer volume of the digital records and its storage challenges calls for enhanced planning. The global transition to lower energy emissions from digital storage calls for using technologies such as AI. The Summit will be the perfect place to discover the latest research, global achievements and innovative projects to improve our performance across the sector.

Attracting new talents and skills

In the current archiving and records management market, there is a growing need for new talents and skills to help meet the rising challenges of today and tomorrow. Digitalisation is a norm and we need to expect even bigger disruptions in the future. The sector needs to properly train its current staff to adopt new skills, as well as hire employees from a new generation of talents. The Summit will stress the importance of diversity in the workforce and analyse the composition of the archiving workforce of the future.
